A volcanic ash plume at 5,000 ft (1.5 km) altitude extending 80 km west of the volcano was reported by VAAC Darwin this morning.

Ash plumes from the volcano have become an almost daily observation on satellite data monitored by VAAC Darwin. This suggests that activity has picked up at the volcano (we will find out more when we are going there in November). ...more

An ash plume at estimated 5,000 ft (1.5 km) altitude was reported extending 50 km SW of the volcano this morning (VAAC Darwin).

Strombolian activity remains apparently intense. Ash plumes from the volcano have been spotted more frequently in the past weeks.
