KVERT reported a viscous lava flow erupted from the summit crater of Bezymianny volcano on 9 November. During an overflight on the same day, 4-km-long pyroclastic flow deposits from 5 November were observed on the SE flank. Lava flow-front collapses from older lava flows on the SE flank were also evident. A strong thermal anomaly is present on satellite data. ...more

After its violent eruption on 24 December, on aerial observations reported by KVERT show that part of Bezymianny’s lava dome was destroyed during that activity. The level of Concern Color Code was lowered to Yellow.
