It is likely that this is being caused by renewed effusion of viscous lava into this area of the dome. This activity has been going on since early December.
In addition, KVERT reports indicate the presence of a lava flow, which is sometimes visible as flashes of infrared light on webcams, as hot boulders tumble off from the flow.
It is impossible to predict whether it will follow the dominant pattern of activity during the past few years - alternating phases of several months of quiet interrupted by short phases of increased lava dome growth, which culminated in very large, but short explosions such in March 2019, January 2019, December 2017, June 2017, or March 2017.
