The volcano continues to produce violent explosions every 1-2 days n average. Another relatively strong explosive eruption occurred this afternoon (beginning at 06:50 AKST local time, 15:50 UTC).
It produced an eruption plume that rose to 30,000 ft (9 km) asl and was first observed an hour later spreading towards the southeast at lower altitudes, and to the northeast at altitudes above about 20,000 ft asl.
The Aviation Color Code of Bogoslof volcano remains at RED (after having been temporarily been downgraded to ORANGE yesterday) and the Alert Level remains at WARNING.

Attached is an interesting image comparing the island's shoreline between 11 Jan (base satellite image) and 16 and 18 Jan, compiled by the Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO). It shows that the ongoing series of eruptions has been significantly modifying the island's shoreline, especially around the inner bay where the vent is located. Probably a tuff ring is now being formed there.
