Tue, 27 Jun 2017, 18:11
18:11 PM | BY: TIt started at 11:17 UTC (03:17 AKDT) and lasted roughly 14 minutes and produced a steam and ash plume that rose to 30,000 ft (10 km) altitude and drifted NE.
The Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) issued a warning to aviation and raised the Aviation Color Code again to RED and the Volcano Alert Level to WARNING.
As AVO wrote, "the Seismicity has since declined to background levels, but Bogoslof volcano remains at a heightened state of unrest and in an unpredictable condition. This morning’s explosion occurred less than 12 hours after a similar explosion yesterday afternoon, and recent eruptive episodes have produced multiple short-duration explosions with pauses of minutes to hours. Additional explosions producing high-altitude volcanic clouds could occur at any time."
