SERNAGEOMIN reported a decrease in seismic activity. No new surface activity was noted, but the alert level remains at orange.

Seismic and degassing activity is on the increase, Sernageomin reported in its latest bulletin (29 Jan). During 28-29 Jan, a total of 345 volcanic earthquakes (plus more than 400 not counted ones because below threshold) and 6 hours of volcanic tremor were recorded. ...more

Seismic and surface activity remained low. However, SERNAGEOMIN also recorded 2 deep seated tremor pulses yesterday morning at 08:36 and 11:43 local time, wich could reflect magma movements at depth.

The volcano remains calm at the surface, but SERNAGEOMIN reports continued high levels of seismic activity reflecting degassing and internal fluid movements.

Intense internal (seismic) unrest continues. Sernageomin reported 25 volcano-tectonic and 106 long period events as well as episodes of tremor during 19 hours between 22-23 Jan. An explosion signal was recorded at 23:55 local time (22 Jan) that corresponded to a brief increase of the height of the gas plume to 1500 m above the crater. ...more

Seismic activity increased significantly during 22 Jan, SERNAGEEOMIN reported in two special bulletins. No eruptive activity at the surface has occurred so far, and the official alert level of the volcano remains at "Yellow", but with "Special Attention" (corresponding to "orange" in our classification). ...more

The volcano produces a dense column of steam and gas rising up to about 1 km. During nighttime there is slight glow visible. More than 1200 earthquakes were recorded during 10 Jan.

SERNAGEOMIN reports a strong increase in seismicity during 8 Dec, when more than 1100 events were recorded with little change in surface activity (so far!).
