Seismic and degassing activity is on the increase, Sernageomin reported in its latest bulletin (29 Jan). During 28-29 Jan, a total of 345 volcanic earthquakes (plus more than 400 not counted ones because below threshold) and 6 hours of volcanic tremor were recorded.
The seismic swarm was accompanied by an increase in the degassing activity, creating a column of 500 m during pulses of more intense activity. No glow or ash emissions were seen.

The volcano remains calm at the surface, but SERNAGEOMIN reports continued high levels of seismic activity reflecting degassing and internal fluid movements. [more]
Friday, Jan 25, 2013
Intense internal (seismic) unrest continues. Sernageomin reported 25 volcano-tectonic and 106 long period events as well as episodes of tremor during 19 hours between 22-23 Jan. An explosion signal was recorded at 23:55 local time (22 Jan) that corresponded to a brief increase of the height of the gas plume to 1500 m above the crater. ... [more]
