Canlaon volcano (Philippines) activity update: occasional white plumes

PHIVOLCS reported that emissions of gas and white steam plumes occurred. The plume rose 984 ft (300 m) above the summit and drifted northwest.

On 17 April sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions reached to a 86 tonnes/day.
The seismic station detected any volcano-tectonic earthquake.
GPS measurements detected continued long-term edifice inflation since 2017. Short-term electronic tilt monitoring on the southeastern flanks recorded slow inflation of the lower slopes since May 2019 and pronounced inflation of the upper slopes at the end of January 2020.
The warning bulletin states that ballistic impacts of volcanic bombs and pyroclastic flows could affect an area of about 4 km distance from the main crater.
