Moderates Erdbeben der Stärke 4.2 - 15 km westlich von Granada, Andalusien, Spanien, am Donnerstag, 12. Aug 2021 um 23:25 Lokalzeit

In Spanien bebte heute die Erde mit einer Stärke von 4.2. Laut Angaben Spaniens Nationalen Geographischen Instituts (IGN) ereignete sich das Beben am Donnerstag, dem 12. August 2021, spät abends um 23:25 Lokalzeit 14.9 km südwestlich von der Stadt Granada (Andalusien) in einer Tiefe von 5 km. Die Stärke, genaue Lage des Epizentrums und Erdbebentiefe können in den nächsten Stunden noch korrigiert werden, während Seismologen die Daten manuell auswerten und ihre Berechnungen verfeinern.
Das Deutsche GeoForschungsZentrum in Potsdam (GFZ) meldete das Erdbeben ebenfalls und gab abweichend eine Stärke von 4.3 an. Eine dritte Agentur, das European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), gab die Stärke des Bebens als 4.3 an.
Anhand der vorläufigen seismischen Daten müsste das Beben von vielen Menschen in der Nähe des Epizentrums gespürt worden sein. Nennenswerter Schaden sollte bei dieser Magnitude nicht aufgetreten sein, außer möglicherweise heruntergefallenen Gegenständen, kleinen Rissen u.s.w.
Einige Orte in der Nähe des Epizentrums, in denen das Beben anhand von vorläufigen Schätzungen möglicherweise spürbar war, sind Chauchina (4,400 Einw. in 5 km Entfernung, mäßige Erschütterungen zu erwarten), Santafé (15,400 Einw. in 6 km Entfernung, mäßige Erschütterungen), Atarfe (15,400 Einw. in 11 km Entfernung, mäßige Erschütterungen), Armilla (21,400 Einw. in 13 km Entfernung, leichtes Bodenschütteln), Albolote (17,100 Einw. in 13 km Entfernung, leichtes Bodenschütteln), Maracena (20,800 Einw. in 13 km Entfernung, leichtes Bodenschütteln), Granada (234,300 Einw. in 15 km Entfernung, leichtes Bodenschütteln) und La Zubia (17,800 Einw. in 17 km Entfernung, leichtes Bodenschütteln).
