In Italien bebte heute die Erde mit einer Stärke von 4.2. Laut Angaben des Deutschen GeoForschungsZentrums in Potsdam (GFZ) ereignete sich das Beben am Donnerstag, dem 22. September 2022, früh nachmittags um 15:40 Lokalzeit 9.2 km nordöstlich von der Stadt Genua (Provincia di Genova, Ligurien) in einer Tiefe von 10 km. Die Stärke, genaue Lage des Epizentrums und Erdbebentiefe können in den nächsten Stunden noch korrigiert werden, während Seismologen die Daten manuell auswerten und ihre Berechnungen verfeinern.
Eine zweite Agentur, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, gab das Erdbeben ebenfalls mit einer Stärke von 4.2 an. Eine dritte Agentur, das European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), gab die Stärke des Bebens als 4.2 an.
Anhand der vorläufigen seismischen Daten müsste das Beben von vielen Menschen in der Nähe des Epizentrums gespürt worden sein. Nennenswerter Schaden sollte bei dieser Magnitude nicht aufgetreten sein, außer möglicherweise heruntergefallenen Gegenständen, kleinen Rissen u.s.w.
Einige Orte in der Nähe des Epizentrums, in denen das Beben anhand von vorläufigen Schätzungen möglicherweise spürbar war, sind Viganego (190 Einw. in 4 km Entfernung, mäßige Erschütterungen zu erwarten), Cenova (580,200 Einw. in 9 km Entfernung, mäßige Erschütterungen), Serra Riccò (7,900 Einw. in 9 km Entfernung, leichtes Bodenschütteln), raparro (27,000 Einw. in 20 km Entfernung, leichtes Bodenschütteln), Chiavari (26,600 Einw. in 28 km Entfernung, leichtes Bodenschütteln), Sestri Levante (17,000 Einw. in 36 km Entfernung, leichtes Bodenschütteln), Novi Ligure (26,000 Einw. in 39 km Entfernung, leichtes Bodenschütteln), Savona (58,300 Einw. in 47 km Entfernung, sehr leichtes Vibrieren) und Alexandria (64,200 Einw. in 60 km Entfernung, sehr leichtes Vibrieren).
