Fuego volcano (Guatemala) activity update

Thursday Jan 10, 2013 08:41 AM | VON: TOMPFEIFFER

Weak strombolian activity can be seen at night. Ash plumes from these explosions rise about 400 m above the crater. The lava flow on the SE flank remains active and had a length of 800 m yesterday morning.
Vorherige Nachrichten
Thursday, Jan 03, 2013
8 weak explosions with ash clouds reaching 3-400 m above the crater, and accompanied by faint rumblings were observed during 2-3 Jan. The lava flow toward Taniluya canyon decreased to a length of only 300 meters. [mehr]
Tuesday, Jan 01, 2013
Activity has remained stable and mainly effusive. There are few weak infrequent strombolian explosions (8 during 31 Dec-1 Jan) generating small gray ash plumes rising up to 400 m, and the extrusion of the lava flow towards Taniluya canyon, 500 m long yesterday morning. [mehr]
Image of Fuego early on 29 Dec 2012 showing the lava flow
Sunday, Dec 30, 2012
Activity has remained unchanged with weak strombolian explosions (11 counted during 28-29 Dec) producing small ash plumes up to about 500 m high, and the continuing lava flow, about 500 m long on the upper southern slope. [mehr]
Current seismic signal from FG3 station (INSIVUMEH)
Tuesday, Dec 25, 2012
Activity has remained dominantly effusive. The lava flow on the southern slope has increased its length to 500 m on 24 Dec morning. Mild strombolian activity with infrequent (a few per day) small explosions have continued at the volcano. ... [mehr]
Friday, Dec 21, 2012
There were 8 explosions during 20-21 Dec which produced light gray ash column of 200-400 meters height and drifting 7 km west and SW. Incandescent material reached 100 meters above the crater and generated avalanches on the upper slopw. The lava flow toward Taniluya canyon was 300 meters long. [mehr]
