Fuego volcano (Guatemala) activity update

Donnerstag Feb 06, 2014 16:05 | VON: TOMPFEIFFER

Current seismic signal of Fuego (FG3 station, INSIVUMEH)
Current seismic signal of Fuego (FG3 station, INSIVUMEH)
This morning's seismic signal from Fuego volcano (FG3 station, INSIVUMEH)
Strombolian activity remains relatively intense and the seismic signal suggests it currently increasing. The volcano observatory reported that during the past 24 hours, there were frequent small to moderate explosions with incandescent ejecta reaching up to about 100 m above the crater and ash plumes of up to 500 m. Shock waves commonly accompany the explosions.
The lava flow on the upper southern slope had decreased to only about 75 m length.
Vorherige Nachrichten
Montag, Feb 03, 2014
After a short peak of activity, the volcano has been calmer today. INSIVUMEH reported weak explosions with ash plumes rising to 600-700 m above the crater, but does not mention any lava flow. [mehr]
Sonntag, Feb 02, 2014
Yesterday evening's INSIVUMEH report suggests that activity at the volcano increased. 16 explosions were observed with ash plumes up to 1200 m height and a new lava flow on the upper southern flank headed towards the Ceniza canyon. ... [mehr]
Sonntag, Jan 26, 2014
Activity at the volcano was characterized by weak to moderate strombolian explosions occurring at rates of 2-3 per hour. Abundant incandescent material is ejected and forms avalanches on the upper slopes. ... [mehr]
Small explosion from Fuego volcano yesterday
Freitag, Jan 24, 2014
Activity at the volcano remains both explosive and effusive at fluctuating levels. After an increase during 22-23 Jan, it decreased yesterday, but seems to have picked up today again. ... [mehr]
Fuego's seismic signal this morning (FG3 station, INSIVUMEH)
Mittwoch, Jan 22, 2014
It appears that activity has increased over night. A strong continuous seismic signal (probably tremor) suggests an increase in lava effusion could be occurring. The next update from INSIVUMEH later today will give a better picture. ... [mehr]
