New Submarine Eruption at Fukutoku-Okanoba

An underwater volcanic eruption was detected on Tuesday morning, October 16th by a Coast Guard Vessel near Minami-Iwoto Island.The Coast Guard vessel said that a column of white smoke was seen rising from the sea about 3 miles from Minami-Iwoto island.
An announcement by the Coast Guard stated that Fukutoku-Okanoba "the volcano spewed ash and smoke about 100 meters into the air, and the surrounding sea area changed to a yellowish-green color while other parts became a cloudy gray"
Possibilities have been raised that a permanent island could form.

Fukutokuokanoba submarine volcano (Japan): undersea eruption
A submarine volcano erupted in Japan. It is located about 6 kilometers north-northeast of Minami-Iwojima island in Ogasawaramura (about 1,300 kilometers from Tokyo).On the evening of 2 July, the Japanese coast guard spotted large amounts of steam rising to about 1 km height above the sea at the site of the submarine volcano, as well as a strong discoloration of the water.
