A new and minor eruption has occurred at the volcano today with small ash emissions to 2.1km (7,000ft). According to the volcano observatory, this was a phreatic (steam-blast) eruption which involves no fresh magma.

PVMBG reported that during 1 August-4 November seismicity at Gamalama fluctuated, and was dominated by hybrid earthquakes and signals indicating emissions. 3 periods of increased seismicity were recorded during 3-5 and 11-19 August, and 8-22 October, though seismicity declined overall. ...mehr
