Klyuchevskoy volcano (Kamchatka): increasing activity

Associated ash emissions reached up to approx. 1 km height above the summit, i.e. to 20,000 ft (6 km) altitude, and drifted mostly in easterly directions.
Based on satellite-based infrared measurements, thermal emissions have also increased notably since mid March, suggesting that more magma has now been arriving at the summit vent. There is currently no clear indication of lava flows from this activity.
However, based on patters of its past eruptions, Klyuchevskoy might slowly be heading towards a new paroxysmal phase with lava fountains and lava flow emissions in a near or medium-term future (days, weeks or few months from now).
