The ongoing Indonesia Volcano Special proceeded to observe Merapi volcano with local-based team members and guides Adi Susanto (Andi) and Galih Jati and news editor Martin Kelko.
The effusive eruption at the volcano continues at high levels with fluctuating variations.
Two lava domes, which is considered to be a quite rare phenomenon, continue to be active on the southwestern and southeastern slopes. Lava dome volumes are estimated to be measured at approximately 1.6 million m3 (SW) and 2.8 million m3 (SE), respectively.
Viscous magma is extruded towards the tops of the domes that shed small rockfalls tumbling down in the form of glowing avalanches. The BPPTKG local observatory registered 25 rockfall events on 17 November and a small number (7) of volcano-tectonic quakes.
The ground has been lifted by 0,2 cm.
