Activity continues at the new island and has apparently picked up in strength again. Lava flows have created a significant new delta of new land during the past 3 days, enlarging the island to a current width measuring approx. 400 (E-W) by 300 (N-S) meters.
The Japanese Coast Guard posted an interesting video and report that also shows that sporadic strombolian explosions from the active vent continue along with lava effusion:

Activity has decreased significantly over the past days. A video from 10 December shows no more strombolian explosions, only degassing and no significant changes to the size of the island compared to a week ago. It is possible that there is still weak effusion of lava, but it appears that the eruption could have come to an end. Read all
