A new fissure eruption on the east flank began at midnight UTC following a brief 80 minute seismic swarm, initiated by a M4.7 event. It appears to be fairly small so far. [mehr]

During the past week, HVO seismometers recorded 56 small magnitude earthquakes beneath the upper elevations of the volcano. Most earthquakes occurred at shallow depths of less than 5 km (~3 miles) beneath the volcano. ... [mehr]

The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) note that the rates of seismicity over the month of December 2019 were variable but within long term vales. Sulfur dioxide emission rates were low at the summit and were below detection limits at Puʻu ʻŌʻō and the lower East Rift Zone. The pond at the bottom of Halema'uma'u crater, which began forming on July 25, 2019, continues to slowly expand and deepen. As of early January 2020, the dimensions of the pond are 84 meters by 190 meters (280 feet by 620 feet). Current depth is about 23 meters (75 feet). ... [mehr]

HVO report that Mauna Loa volcano is not currently erupting. The deformation and seismicity rates have not changed substantially over the past week and remain above long-term background levels. ... [mehr]

HVO report that during the past week, approximately 70 small-magnitude earthquakes (nearly all smaller than M2.0) were detected beneath the upper elevations of Mauna Loa. Most of the earthquakes occurred at shallow depths of less than 6 km (around 4 miles) below sea level. ... [mehr]

The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) report that their monitoring data have shown no significant changes in volcanic activity during November. Over the past month, about a dozen DI (Deflation-Inflation) events occurred beneath the summit. Over 1800 earthquakes were detected in the vicinity of the volcano, which is an increase of around 10% from last month. Rates of seismicity are relatively consistent throughout the month, although at the summit, episodic increased rates appear to be coincident with the inflated phase of the DI events. Sulfur dioxide emission rates are low at the summit and are below detection limits at Puʻu ʻOʻo and the lower East Rift Zone. The pond at the bottom of Halema'uma'u, which began forming on July 25, 2019, continues to slowly expand and deepen, and the most recent measurements are 162 meters in the east-west direction and 73 meters in the north-south direction. ... The seismicity and deformation levels on Mauna Loa volcano have not changed considerably over the past few weeks, but still remain elevated above background levels. ... [mehr]

Sonntag, Nov 17, 2019
Kilauea volcano is still currently not erupting. The sulfur dioxide emission rates at summit of the volcano is low with steady rates of ground deformation and seismicity. The crater lake inside Halema'uma'u continues to grow slowly. ... [mehr]
