Effusive activity along the southern margin today (image: OVPF)
A new active tongue of the lava flow formed along the southern margin over the past 24 hours. The front of the new lava arm, from the OVPF's available imagery, seems to be located at an altitude of 1800 meters.
Lava fountains continue to build the cinder cone around the vent and occasionally exceeds its height.
A lava flow discharge rate is measured at about 3-20 m3/sec. on average.
The ground deformation measurements continue to detect slight deflation at shallow magma chamber level (2-2,5 km) reflecting magma intrusion and migration within the volcano edifice.
The volcanic tremor continues at fluctuating levels. The seismic station detected 6 volcano-tectonic quakes with a magnitude lower than 0.5 over the past 24 hours.
