Semeru volcano (East-Java, Indonesia): lava flow active on southern slope

A lava flow is again active on the southern slope of the volcano. After similar activity during the first half of the year, the lava flow stopped around early August, but reappeared in September. At the moment it has a length of approx. 1500 m and can be seen from the south.

Explosive activity is present as well, but only in the form of weak strombolian explosions at the summit vent.
