PVMBG reported that on 3 March a pyroclastic flow was generated from collapsing material at the end of a 750-m-long lava flow on the S flank. The pyroclastic flow lasted nine minutes based on seismic data which traveled 2.3 km down the south flank. This was reported at 17:33 local time.

During 3-8 March a black-grey ash plumes rose 656 ft (200 m) above the summit crater that interspersed with 100 m high white gas plumes. Incandescent material is being ejected to an approximate height of 10 to 50 meters above the crater. Lava flows on the S flank remain active, currently about 1,640 ft-3,280 ft (500 m-1,000 m) long.
The Alert Level remained at 2 (on a scale of 1-4).
There is a 1 km exclusion zone around the main crater and 4 km on the SSE flank.
