 Semisopochnoi volcano news & activity updates:Thu, 1 Nov 2018, 23:55
AVO reports that there have been no explosions in the last day, and only two the day before. The volcano remains highly restless and explosions could resume. The renewed eruption has continued in the last few days. Regular small explosions are occurring, but there have been no sightings of ash plumes.

Fri, 26 Oct 2018, 06:43 Seismic signal from Semisopochnoi volcano this morning, showing the eruption (image: AVO) A small eruption occurred at the volcano this morning (21:00 pm local time) and was detected in seismic data. The Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) reports: ...mehr"Strong seismic tremor from Semisopochnoi consistent with an eruption began at 4:47 UTC (20:47 AKDT) and is currently diminishing. Satellite data through 5:00 UTC (21:00 AKDT) show a small ash cloud at about 12,000 ft asl." [ less] [ alles lesen] Fri, 26 Oct 2018, 05:45
Satellite image of Semisopochnoi volcano on 26 Oct 2018 Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Anchorage (VAAC) issued the following report: ...mehrFVAK21 at 05:38 UTC, 26/10/18 from PAWU [ less] [ alles lesen] Fri, 12 Oct 2018, 21:24 AVO has lowered the Aviation Color Code and Alert Level to YELLOW/ADVISORY due to satellite observations and a lack of tremor lately indicating that eruptive activity has stopped. Elevated seismicity continues.
Wed, 3 Oct 2018, 02:56 On September 16, AVO raised the volcano to Aviation Color Code YELLOW and Volcanic Alert Level ADVISORY due to increased seismicity. The following day, activity increased further, with bursts of tremor; AVO raised the Aviation Color Code to ORANGE and Volcanic Alert Level to WATCH. Subsequent satellite imagery showed ash deposits and a new tephra cone on the northern cone of Mount Cerberus, one of the cones of the volcanic system. No significant emissions have been detected. A decline in seismicity over the last few months and no sign of activity in daily satellite images prompts AVO to downgrade Semisopochnoi volcano from Aviation Color Code YELLOW and Volcanic Alert Level ADVISORY to UNASSIGNED. (USGS) Thu, 26 Mar 2015, 18:03
Current seismic signal at Semisopochnoi (AVO) The Alaska volcano observatory (AVO) detected significantly increased earthquake activity under the volcano and warns of a possible eruption: ...mehr"Earthquake activity that began in January continues, and has increased in intensity over the past few days. In addition, we have detected brief periods of seismic tremor, which can indicate movement of magma or magmatic gases. Thus we are increasing the aviation color code to YELLOW and the volcano alert level to ADVISORY." (AVO) [ less] Wed, 23 Jul 2014, 13:44 Current seismic activity (CEAP station / AVO) Earthquakes have decreased but are still above background levels. No eruptive activity has been recorded. Alert level remains yellow.

Current seismic activity (CEAP station / AVO) The earthquake swarm continues. No eruptive activity has been detected. Mon, 16 Jun 2014, 11:17
Current seismic activity (CEAP station / AVO) The earthquake swarm at the volcano that started on June 9 and escalated on June 12 continues. No eruptive activity is currently indicated and nothing was observed in cloudy satellite images over the past day. (AVO) Fri, 13 Jun 2014, 20:56 Current seismic signal at Semisopochnoi volcano (CEAP station / AVO) Another remote volcano in Alaska is showing signs of unrest or possible activity. The Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) sent out the following alert: ...mehr"A swarm of earthquakes at Semisopochnoi volcano that started at 10:00 AKDT (18:00 UTC) on June 9 escalated yesterday, June 12, at approximately 12:00 AKDT (20:00 UTC). The continuation of this anomalous seismic activity through the night prompts AVO to raise the Aviation Color Code to YELLOW and the Volcano Alert Level to ADVISORY. No eruptive activity is currently indicated. [ less] [ alles lesen]
