Shishaldin volcano news & activity updates:
Sat, 21 Nov 2015, 05:33
No anomalous activity at Shishaldin has been observed in satellite data since weakly elevated surface temperatures were detected on October 16. Low-amplitude seismic tremor continues but is not considered to be indicative of an active eruption. ...mehr
Fri, 6 Nov 2015, 06:41
Seismicity at Shishaldin continued to be slightly elevated over background levels during 28 October-2 November, indicating that low-level eruptive activity confined to the summit crater continued. ...mehr
Thu, 3 Sep 2015, 11:05
Seismicity at the volcano continued to be elevated over background levels during 26 August-1 September, indicating that low-level eruptive activity confined to the summit crater continued. ...mehr
Thu, 4 Jun 2015, 11:05
AVO reported that seismicity at Shishaldin continued to be elevated over background levels 20-26 May indicating that low-level eruptive activity confined to the summit crater likely continued. ...mehr

Low-level eruptive activity continues at the summit crater of the volcano, where vigorous steaming could often be seen during the past week. Aviation Color Code remains Orange.
Fri, 20 Mar 2015, 15:50
Seismicity at the volcano continues to be above background, and according to AVO, "low-level activity", i.e. weak strombolian activity for example, could be occurring at the summit crater. Webcam imagery show only minor steaming. ...mehr

Small emission of steam and ash (?) at Shishaldin yesterday (AVO webcam)
A small eruption was seen last night from a ship, VAAC Anchorage reports. Aviation color code remains orange. ...mehr
Wed, 28 Jan 2015, 18:29
A faint thermal signal remains visible on satellite imagery. According to the Alaska Volcano Observatory, weak eruptive activity likely continues in the summit crater.

Seismic activity at Shishaldin volcano today (SSLW station / AVO)
The Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) reported "strongly elevated" temperatures in the summit crater on satellite data from yesterday. This could indicate lava is present there, possibly strombolian activity. What seems to be light ash fall deposits on the upper snowy flanks was visible on webcam images. ...mehr
Mon, 12 Jan 2015, 09:54
Seismicity at the volcano remains slightly elevated, but no signs of significant activity have been noted recently, only some steam emissions were observed occasionally. AVO maintains Aviation Color Code "Orange" and Volcano Alert Level "Watch".

Raung volcano photos
: One of the largest and most active volcanoes in East Java, rarely-visited and relatively unknown Raung became (in)famous during its recent eruption in 2015 when its frequent ash plumes forced the repeated closure of Bali's airport.
Blue flames of burning sulfur
: Ijen volcano in East Java has one of the most impressive sulfur deposits on earth. They are so hot that the sulfur often ignites - a mysterious display at night caught on camera.
Kelut volcano photos
: A new lava dome grew inside the crater lake during the effusive eruption in late 2007, replacing most of the lake. Watch the birth of a new mountain!
