Shishaldin volcano (United States, Aleutian Islands) activity update
Thursday Dec 18, 2014 16:06 PM | VON: TOMPFEIFFER
Mild eruptive activity probably continues in the summit crater of the stratovolcano.
AVO reported that seismicity at Shishaldin continued to be elevated during 10-16 December. Nothing significant was observed in partly-to-mostly cloudy satellite and web camera images.
Wednesday, Dec 03, 2014
Seismic activity remains elevated. According to the Alaska Volcano Observatory, "a low-level lava eruption is probably still occurring", although cloud cover prevents visual confirmation by satellite.

A surge of activity was detected at the volcano. The Alaska Volcano Observatory writes: ...
Friday, Oct 31, 2014
Eruptive activity at the volcano continues. Most of the time, it seems to be weak, probably strombolian in nature, but there have been episodes with more intense activity, possibly lava fountaining, evidenced by strong tremor and elevated surface temperatures. ...
Friday, Oct 24, 2014
AVO reported that, although cloud cover often obscured views of Shishaldin during 15-21 October, seismicity indicated that a low-level eruption was likely continuing. ...
Thursday, Oct 16, 2014
Low-level eruptive activity likely continues at the volcano, AVO writes: "Elevated surface temperatures were detected in satellite data from this morning. Sound waves coupling into the ground (ground-coupled air waves) from small explosions as well as small pulses of tremor are occasionally detected in seismic data." (AVO)

Photos from Germany
: Germany has a large number of volcanoes - most of them extinct, but the Eifel volcanic field is still potentially active.
Active volcanoes in China
: Did you know that there are at least 15 active volcanoes in China? The last eruption was from the Kunlun volcano in 1951.
Latest quakes in Greece
: Greece has a lot of earthquake activity, but most of them occur around the margin of the Aegean microplate. The Cycladic islands are located in its center and therefore seismically comparably quiet.
