Shishaldin volcano (Aleutian Islands, Alaska): warm surface temperatures detected; no significant change in activity during the past days

The Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) recorded warm surface temperatures in the summit crater identified in satellite data, which is consistent with cooling lava deposits.

The Alaskan Volcano Observatory (AVO) report that no significant eruptive activity has occurred over the past 24 hours. No significant seismic data has been detected also. Weakly elevated surface temperatures and a small steam plume were observed in satellite images. Rare clear webcam views also showed this steam plume. AVO note that it remains possible for unrest to escalate at any time with little warning, and additional lava flows, lahars, and ash-producing eruptive events may occur. ... Read all
