Sheveluch volcano (Kamchatka, Russia): lava dome Dolphin-2 destroyed

The extrusive and explosive eruption of the volcano continues.
The actively growing lava dome Dolphin-2 started to partially collapse as cracks occurred at the feature about one month ago. An increased activity at the volcano, reported by the volcanological observatory Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team (KVERT), started about 19:20 local time yesterday. The extrusive lava dome is likely being destroyed after an explosive eruption at the edifice as observed by the KVERT. A strong gas-steam plume containing some amount of ash extended about 42 km to the east of the volcano. The plume rose to an altitude of 14,000 ft (4,300 m).
Webcam images of the eruption are not reported nor by observatory or social media yet, but from available sources, it may assume that explosive collapse of the lava dome may have triggered block-and-ash flows (pyroclastic flows) known as Peléan type.
The lava dome had grown from the active lava dome and forming the "dome on top of a dome" in mid-May.
