Shiveluch volcano (Kamchatka) activity update

Montag Jan 06, 2014 14:32 | VON: T

Glow from Shiveluch's lava dome at night (KVERT webcam)
Glow from Shiveluch's lava dome at night (KVERT webcam)
The volcano continues to extrude a viscous lava dome on the NW part of the older dome. Glow from the dome and hot rockfalls can be seen at night. Small to moderate ash explosions likely accompany this activity but are often undetected due to frequent cloud cover.

Glow from the active lava dome this evening (KVERT webcam)
Donnerstag, Jan 02, 2014
The eruption of the volcano continues with the new lava dome growing on the north-western part of the old lava dome. Moderate ash explosions up to 13,100-19,800 ft (4-6 km) a.s.l., fumarolic activity and incandescence of the dome summit and hot avalanches accompanies this process. Satellite data showed a thermal anomaly over the volcano. (KVERT daily report). [mehr]
Explosion from Shiveluch's lava dome this morning (afternoon in Kamchatka)
Samstag, Dez 28, 2013
A relatively large explosive eruption occurred this afternoon at the lava dome of the volcano, producing a pyroclastic flow and an ash plume rising to over 27,000 ft (8 km) altitude (at 03:07 UTC): ... [mehr]
Mittwoch, Dez 18, 2013
Several ash plumes up to altitudes of 27,000 ft (8 km) altitude were spotted by VAAC Tokyo during the past 24 hours, indicating that activity at the growing lava dome in form of explosions and/or avalanches/pyroclastic flows remains elevated. [mehr]
Glow from Sheveluch's lava dome yesterday (KVERT webcam)
Dienstag, Dez 17, 2013
Several ash plumes to altitudes of 17-20,000 ft (5-6 km) have been detected by VAAC Tokyo during the past 24 hours. Webcam images are mostly obscured by clouds, but glow can be sometimes seen at the lava dome. Most likely the ash plumes were generated by partial collapse events and/or explosions, which in turn might have been associated with new pyroclastic flows. [mehr]
Glowing avalanche from Shiveluch's lava dome today (KVERT webcam)
Mittwoch, Dez 11, 2013
The lava dome continues to grow, producing incandescent avalanches on to the SW and SE as well as small explosions, visible on the following video from today's activity in time-lapse: ... [mehr]
