Ubinas volcano (Peru): no significant change in activity since the last update; descent of a lahar detected

Traveled lahar down the SE flank from Ubinas volcano on 18 March(image: IGP)

IGP reported that the warning system at the volcano detected the decrease of a lahar (volcanic mud flow) of a low volume that traveled downslope in SE direction through the Volcanmayo ravine due to the streams that run through this sector. This is located 2 km away from the Ubinas town.
The population is recommended to stay away from the streams and avoid Querapi-Ubinas-Huarina highway.
