Yellowstone volcano: activity updates

Yellowstone volcano (Wyoming): status remains "green" (normal activity)

The activity at the caldera (seismicity, deformation, degassing etc) remains at normal levels. Despite continuing rumors and fear-mongering media (unsupported by facts), there is currently no sign to believe that the so-called "supervolcano" is about to erupt violently anytime soon.
The USGS Yellowstone Volcano Observatory (YVO) who monitors the caldera's seismic activity, its ground deformation and other geophysical parameters very closely maintains therefore Yellowstone's current status level at "green" = "normal" - actually, the most typical state of any of the world's thousands of active volcanoes.
Yellowstone's current observed activity underground and at the surface (mostly hydrothermal in nature, e.g. its hot mineral springs and geysers) falls well within this normal activity state and should not be sign of worry.

Info abbreviated from the latest monthly USGS/YVO report:
"During May 2016, the Yellowstone Seismic Network recorded 72 earthquakes with the largest being a tiny 2.5 earthquake on 27 May. No earthquake swarms were detected. Overall, seismic activity during May was at low background levels.
Ground deformation:
"Uplift at the Norris GPS station, which began in early 2016, continues at a rate of ~5 cm/yr. The pattern of ground deformation resembles that observed from late 2013 through early 2014, although the present uplift rate is less than half of what it was before. Caldera GPS stations continue to record slow subsidence at a rate of ~1.5 cm/yr.
Current deformation patterns at Yellowstone remain within historical norms."
