A magnitude 5.1 earthquake only 47 minutes ago was reported by the EMSC agency, considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity worldwide. The earthquake occurred at intermediate depth of 37 km (23 mi) beneath the epicenter given as 197 km SW of Sungai Penuh, Indonesia. The magnitude could be revised within the next few minutes as the agency updates and refines its calcuations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service at VolcanoDiscovery also identified a second report from the USGS agency which listed the quake at magnitude 5.1 as well.
