The German Research Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam (GFZ) reported a magnitude 6.0 quake in Chile only 5 minutes ago. The earthquake happened at a shallow depth of 10 km (6.2 miles). The magnitude, exact epicenter location and depth could be revised within the next few minutes as the agency updates and refines its calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should have been widely felt by almost everyone in the area of the epicenter. It might have caused light to moderate damage.
Towns and cities near the epicenter that are likely to be affected include Taltal (pop. 10,000) in 72 km (45 miles) distance with moderate ground shaking expected, Diego de Almagro (pop. 18,100) in 152 km (94 miles) distance, light shaking expected, Antofagasta (pop. 309,800) in 219 km (136 miles) distance, light shaking expected, Copiapó (pop. 129,300) in 227 km (141 miles) distance, light shaking expected.
This story will be updated soon by VolcanoDiscovery. If you’re in the area, please send us your experience through our reporting mechanism. This will help us provide more first-hand updates to anyone around the globe who wants to know more about this quake.
The quake has already been downgraded to around magnitude 5.5, which is ten times weaker (and less dangerous) than a magnitude 6 event. Final calculations will still take some time.

#10: 4.5 quake: 26 Km W of Pelabuhanratu, Indonesia, 21 Oct 2020 23:50 - 3 reports
#11: 2.3 quake: Northern California, USA, 21 Oct 2020 11:15 - 3 reports
#12: 3.2 quake: 3 Km W of Lucien, Oklahoma, USA, 21 Oct 2020 14:33 - 2 reports

An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 occurred in the morning on 21 October at 9.33 am local time near Lucien, Oklahoma, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported. According to preliminary data, the quake occurred at a very shallow depth of 0.9 km (0.6 miles). The magnitude, exact epicenter location and depth of the quake are likely to be revised within the next hours as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service at VolcanoDiscovery also identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.4.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows etc.
Towns and cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt, based on preliminary calculations, include Lucien (pop. 100) at a distance of 4 km (3 miles) with light shaking, Covington (pop. 600) at a distance of 8 km (5 miles) with light shaking, Enid (pop. 51,800) at a distance of 36 km (22 miles) with very weak shaking, Edmond (pop. 90,100) at a distance of 70 km (44 miles) with very weak shaking.

#13: 5.1 quake: 127 Km SSE of Sand Point, Alaska, USA, 21 Oct 2020 01:17 - 2 reports
