Small tremor of magnitude 3.0 reported 79 km northeast of Korla, China

Just 55 minutes ago early evening on Saturday 24 October at 7.17 pm local time, a 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck near the town of Sishilichengzi, China, with a recorded depth of 13 km below the surface, considered shallow in seismological terms.

The event was filed by CEIC, the first seismological agency to report it.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt, based on preliminary calculations, include Sishilichengzi (pop. 8,700) at a distance of 44 km with very weak shaking. In Baluntai (pop. 5,300, 63 km away), and Korla (pop. 179,500, 79 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
