Light 4.5 quake hits near Palu, Indonesia

An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 occurred only 7 minutes ago 42 km southeast of Palu, Indonesia, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported. The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter in the evening on Friday 30 October 2020 at 9.47 pm local time. The magnitude, exact epicenter location and depth of the quake are likely to be revised within the next few hours as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
