Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Carolinas Heights (pop. 300) located 135 km from the epicenter, San Jose Village (pop. 15,000) 136 km away, and Saipan (pop. 48,200) 162 km away.
