An earthquake of magnitude 3.1 occurred only 9 minutes ago 4 miles southwest of Monroe, Washington, United States, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 14 miles beneath the epicenter near Monroe, Snohomish County, Washington, USA, early morning on Monday 28 December 2020 at 2:41 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

In Seattle (pop. 684,500, 20 miles away), and Tacoma (pop. 207,900, 43 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
