The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the National Seismic Network of the geophysical institute of the university in Strasbourg, France (ReNaSS) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.1.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Longues-sur-Mer (pop. 620) located 30 km from the epicenter. In Bayeux (pop. 16,000, 37 km away), Hérouville-Saint-Clair (pop. 24,300, 54 km away), Caen (pop. 110,600, 55 km away), Tourlaville (pop. 18,300, 60 km away), Saint-Lô (pop. 21,700, 60 km away), Le Havre (pop. 186,000, 63 km away), Cherbourg-Octeville (pop. 26,700, 63 km away), and Équeurdreville-Hainneville (pop. 18,900, 66 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
