An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 occurred only 14 minutes ago 99 km northwest of Curup, Indonesia, Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported.
The quake hit at an intermediate to considerable depth of 172 km beneath the epicenter near Curup, Bengkulu, Indonesia, early morning on Monday 1 March 2021 at 6:52 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.3 earthquake as well.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Curup (pop. 46,200, 99 km away), and Lubuklinggau (pop. 148,200, 101 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
