An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 occurred only 7 minutes ago 76 km west of Livadia, Greece, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 2 km beneath the epicenter near Livadia, Chania, Crete, Greece, in the evening on Tuesday 2 March 2021 at 9:55 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Livadia (pop. 76) located 76 km from the epicenter, Kissamos (pop. 4,200) 88 km away, and Paleochora (pop. 2,400) 90 km away.
