An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 occurred late at night on Thursday 4 March 2021 at 10:47 pm local time near Mersin, Turkey, as reported by the National Observatory of Athens (NOA).

According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 10 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface.
