Surprise Larisa quake was a "twin" of an earlier one from the day before!

Authorities in Greece are calling Thursday evening's quake, which occurred at .8.38 pm local time, a "surprise earthquake" as it is as strong as the main earthquake that occurred the day before. Usually aftershocks are less intense than the main event, however one of the country's most notable geologists, Efthimios Lekkas, said that another part of the fault line had become activated. Luckily, this occurred far from densely populated areas. Lekkas is still hesitant to say this latest quake can be characterized as an actual aftershock.

Another noteworthy geologist, Vasilis Karakostas, was quoted on local television saying that the fault seems to be spreading westwards, activating a new fault line apart from that of yesterday's 5.2 magnitude quake.

VolcanoDiscovery user reports poured in from three different countries, namely Greece, North Macedonia and Albania. There were reports of different levels of shaking in the Greek cities of Volos, Katerini and Kozani, with reports of strong shaking in Larisa, Thessaloniki and Veria which are relatively close to the epicenter. Ohrid in North Macedonia also felt moderate shaking according to one filed report.
