Moderate magnitude 4.2 earthquake 62 km northeast of Tacna, Peru

Just 35 minutes ago, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Tacna, Provincia de Tacna, Peru. The tremor was recorded late at night on Saturday 13 March 2021 at 11:45 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.2 earthquake as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Toquela (pop. 51) located 14 km from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Chipispaya (pop. 1,900) located 47 km from the epicenter, Chuquitira (pop. 4,200) 48 km away, Quilahuani (pop. 3,200) 61 km away, and Tacna (pop. 280,100) 62 km away.
