3.3 quake 6 Apr 1:46 am (GMT -5)
The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 3.3 quake in the United States near Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, only 7 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Tuesday 6 April 2021 at 1:46 am local time at a very shallow depth of 0.4 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.3 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Union City (pop. 1,900) located 1 miles from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include El Reno (pop. 18,500) located 11 miles from the epicenter, Mustang (pop. 20,200) 12 miles away, Yukon (pop. 25,900) 13 miles away, Bethany (pop. 19,600) 20 miles away, Chickasha (pop. 16,500) 22 miles away, Oklahoma City (pop. 631,300) 25 miles away, and Moore (pop. 60,500) 26 miles away. In Norman (pop. 120,300, 30 miles away), and Midwest City (pop. 57,200, 31 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
If you felt it, report it through our site or app right now!
