Small magnitude 3.0 earthquake 9 miles southeast of Nottingham, California, United States

The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 3.0 quake in the United States near Nottingham, Alameda County, California, only 10 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Saturday 10 April 2021 at 4:50 am local time at a very shallow depth of 2.4 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.0 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Nottingham (pop. 88,100) located 9 miles from the epicenter, Pleasanton (pop. 79,500) 12 miles away, Dublin (pop. 57,700) 17 miles away, and Milpitas (pop. 77,600) 17 miles away. In Fremont (pop. 232,200, 17 miles away), Tracy (pop. 87,100, 17 miles away), Union City (pop. 74,500, 19 miles away), San Jose (pop. 1,026,900, 21 miles away), and San Francisco (pop. 864,800, 43 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
