Small 3.7 quake hits near Akhiok, Kodiak Island, Alaska, USA

Just 10 minutes ago, a 3.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Akhiok, Kodiak Island, Alaska, USA. The tremor was recorded early morning on Monday 12 April 2021 at 3:38 am local time, at a shallow depth of 17 miles below the surface.

The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.7 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Akhiok (pop. 72) located 33 miles from the epicenter. In Karluk (pop. 37, 52 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
