Magnitude 5.2 earthquake strikes near San Antonio, San Antonio Province, Valparaiso, Chile

The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 5.3 earthquake.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Los Navegantes (pop. 230) located 53 km from the epicenter, San Antonio (pop. 85,700) 62 km away, Cartagena (pop. 16,900) 65 km away, Melipilla (pop. 63,100) 90 km away, Valparaiso (pop. 282,400) 110 km away, Viña del Mar (pop. 294,600) 115 km away, and Quilpué (pop. 130,300) 118 km away.
