Just 13 minutes ago, a 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Nazca, Provincia de Nazca, Ica, Peru. The tremor was recorded early evening on Sunday 25 April 2021 at 6:50 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the United States Geological Survey, which listed it as a magnitude 5.3 earthquake. Other agencies reporting the same quake include France's Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS) at magnitude 5.5, and the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 5.5.
Generally quakes of this magnitude are recorded by more than one agency and the results can vary, with subsequent reports that come in after the first one often showing more accuracy.

Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should have been widely felt by almost everyone in the area of the epicenter. It might have caused light to moderate damage.
Moderate shaking probably occurred in Lampilla (pop. 11) located 7 km from the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in San Juan de Marcona (pop. 12,800) located 77 km from the epicenter, Marcona (pop. 15,500) 77 km away, Coracora (pop. 7,400) 90 km away, Nazca (pop. 23,600) 91 km away, Puquio (pop. 10,500) 97 km away, and Tambo (pop. 5,000) 98 km away.
