Just 12 minutes ago, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Fayzabad, Faīẕābād, Badakhshan, Afghanistan. The tremor was recorded in the afternoon on Thursday 6 May 2021 at 5:00 pm local time, at an intermediate to considerable depth of 156 km below the surface.

The event was filed by India's National Center for Seismology (NCS), the first seismological agency to report it.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Ashkāsham (pop. 12,100, 49 km away), Jurm (pop. 12,100, 56 km away), Ishqoshim (pop. 26,000, 57 km away), and Fayzabad (pop. 44,400, 92 km away), the quake was probably not felt.

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake near Norsup, Malampa Province, Vanuatu, was reported only 18 minutes ago by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity worldwide.
