Moderate magnitude 4.3 quake hits 16 km southwest of Ishqoshim, Afghanistan around noon

A magnitude 4.3 earthquake near Ishqoshim, Ishkoshim, Gorno-Badakhshan, Tajikistan, was reported only 10 minutes ago by India's National Center for Seismology (NCS), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 5 km beneath the epicenter around noon on Friday 7 May 2021 at 12:16 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
