Just 14 minutes ago, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Gorontalo, Indonesia. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Saturday 8 May 2021 at 11:34 am local time, at an intermediate depth of 139 km below the surface.

The event was filed by Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.2 earthquake as well.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Gorontalo (pop. 144,200, 86 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
