Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.5 just reported 58 km north of Tobelo, Indonesia

Just 13 minutes ago, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Tobelo, Kabupaten Halmahera Utara, North Maluku, Indonesia. The tremor was recorded early morning on Wednesday 12 May 2021 at 6:11 am local time, at an intermediate depth of 123 km below the surface.

The event was filed by Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.5 earthquake as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Tobelo (pop. 10,000) located 58 km from the epicenter.
